Established 1948 Herald Democrat October 6, 2011 Graveside services for Jack Carpender, 73, of Sherman, were held Saturday morning, October 8, 2011 at Cedarlawn Memorial Park Cemetery with Bro. David Murphy officiating. Jack Carpender was born December 4, 1937 in Omaha, Nebraska to William Pit Carpender and Jennie Melvina Viles Carpender and passed from this life on Monday, October 3, 2011 at his home. Mr. Carpender married Billie Thompson on November 27, 1986 in the home where they have resided in since their marriage. Jack retired as a maintenance worker for ConAgra for 20 plus years and loved working on computers. He also sold fireworks every year and enjoyed being with his family. Mr. Carpender was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Lois Jean Kjestad. He is survived by his loving wife, Billie, of the home; daughters, Kelly Rouse and husband, Robert, of Ft. Worth; Cathy Rice of Gainesville; Pat Wright of Roby; Beverly Buckner and husband, Danny, of Van Alstyne; and Wanda Hart and husband, Joe, of Leonard; son, Jimmy Hall and wife, Nancy, of Sherman; sister, Margaret Carpender of California; brothers, William and Samuel Lee Carpender; 13 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews and cousins. Services were under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home located at 619 N. Travis St., Sherman. Van Alstyne - Funeral services for BIllie Catherine Carpender were held Monday afternoon, March 7, 2022 in the Chapel of Memories at Cedarlawn Memorial Park. Rev. David Murphy officiated. Ms. Carpender passed away Thursday , March 3, 2022 in Van Alstyne. Billie was born July 22, 1930 in Sherman, Texas, daughter of William and Velma Killian Thompson. She retired from Sherman ISD where she worked at Dillingham Middle School. She enjoyed crafts and owned Crafts and Stuff in Sherman for many years. Mrs. Carpender will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 husbands, William Lloyd Hall and Jack Carpender.
