Established 1948 Margaret Louise Cantrell went home to be with the Lord at the age of 90, Sunday, October 23, 2011, peacefully at her home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born December 8, 1920 in Gordonville, TexasF, daughter of Alden and Beulah Johnson Harlan. The family moved to Altus, Oklahoma, where she received her education. In 1938 her family moved to Denison, Texas where she met her husband, James Cantrell. On January 6, 1940, James and Margaret were married in a double ceremony with James' brother at First Baptist Church in Denison. Margaret and her husband moved to Dallas, Texas where she went to school for accounting. Margaret was an accountant and the assistant to the head comptroller at Oil Well Supply for many years. In 1965 she and her husband moved their family back to Sherman where they started their business Texoma Bearings & Supplies. They operated their business successfully for 15 years, opening other locations in Dallas and Ardmore, Oklahoma. In 1980, Margaret and James retired, selling their business to Motion Industries. Margaret was a charter member of Trinity Baptist Church in Sherman where she was active in teaching Sunday school. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting, traveling and time with her family. She and her husband were members of the Texas Wagon Trail Association. They rode in the 1986 Texas Sesquicentennial 3,000 mile Trail Ride, outlining the Texas borders in their covered wagon pulled by their two Belgian horses, Tom and Jerry, along with 106 other wagons and 291 horseback riders. The trail ride pulled out of Sulphur Springs on January 2nd heading down into the Valley, out through the Davis Mountains to El Paso, up through the Panhandle to Amarillo, down along the Red River Valley ending up in the stockyards in Ft Worth on July 3rd. Margaret is survived by her loving husband, James Louis Cantrell of 71 years; daughter Brenda Joyce Webb Fish of Sherman and husband, Keith; son, Gary Cantrell and wife, Debra, of Sherman; grandchildren, David Webb and wife, Amanda,of San Antonio; Carla Murrin and husband, Tim, of Sherman; Sue Fenley and husband, Drew, of Sherman; great-grandchildren Danielle Webb of San Antonio; Tyler Rose and Webb Fenley of Sherman; brothers Wayne Harlan of Anadarko, Oklahoma and older sister, Mae Crossman, of Orange County, California, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; infant son Jimmy; brothers, David and Lynn; sisters Wilma, Wiladean and Pauline. Services for Mrs. Cantrell were held Thursday morning, October 27, 2011 at Trinity Baptist Church in Sherman. Rev. Jason Anderson & Rev. Bob Allen officiated. Interment followed at Cedarlawn. Pallbearers were Lynn Bagley, Rick Hill, Jay James, James Mahon, Gary Park and Robert Zischkale. The family would like to thank Margaret's Hospice aide Shannon for her devotion and loving care of their beloved wife & mother and the staff of Victory Home Health and Hospice of Sherman. The family requests in lieu of flowers donations be made to Trinity Baptist Church in Margaret Louise Cantrell's name.
