Established 1948 Joann Campbell 1941 - Jimmy W. Campbell 1935 - 2012 Herald Democrat July 8, 2012 DENISON - Jimmy Wayne Campbell, 76 of Denison, Texas passed away Thursday, July 5, 2012. Graveside services were held noon, Saturday July 7, 2012 at Cedarlawn Cemetery in Sherman with Rev. Mark Mitchell officiating. Pallbearers were Don Cook, W.C. Cravey, Kenneth Canada, Matt LaBonte, John LaBonte, Jimmy Rader and Honorary pallbearer was Bill McCord. Jimmy was born on Sunday, October 6, 1935 outside of Mt. Pleasant, Texas, son of James O. Campbell and Thelma Norene Coley Campbell. The family moved to Dallas when Jimmy was 6 years old. Jimmy accepted Christ as his Savior when he was 16 years old. At the time of his death, he was a member of First Baptist Church of Denison. He worked for the defense industry from 1954 until 1962 at either Temco or Chance Vought Aircraft. bHe joined his father in the wholesale battery business in 1962. He owned Interstate Battery System franchise of Oklahoma until 1974. From 1968 to 1972 Jimmy was scout master and assistant scout of Troop 611 of Hyde Park Presbyterian Church. He put through five Eagle Scouts in a four year period; Rusty McCord, Jerry Campbell, Jimmy Rader, Rick Stange and Billy Crawford. He always went to camp with the boys and was so proud of them all. Jimmy retired from Texas Instruments after 20 years in 1995. While working for TI, he was a security guard. He enjoyed spending time at Eagles Nest, New Mexico with his wife, JoAnn. Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, James O. and Norene Campbell; his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Coley; and numerous uncles and aunts on both sides of his family. He is survived by his wife, JoAnn Campbell, they were married 27 years. Other survivors include his son, Jerry W. Campbell and significant other, Khonda Bowling; Jimmy Rader and Melanie; Robin Rader LaBonte and John; grandchildren Andrea Campbell Grimes and Gary, Ashley LaBonte Brown and Cody, Matthew LaBonte, Kaylie Rader, Kristyn Rader and three great-grandchildren; Mark, Luke and Caleb Grimes. He is also survived by an aunt, Frances Coley Conkle, and several cousins. Jimmy was a member of the Travis Street Masonic Lodge in Sherman; he became a Mason in 1958 in Dallas and received his Master Mason 50 year certificate in June 2006. He was a Mason for 54 years.
