Clark died peacefully early Thursday morning, July 1, 1999 at his home in Melissa. The funeral was held Saturday morning at the First Baptist Church Memorial Chapel in Sherman. Dr. Tom Brandon, Pastor Emeritus of First Baptist Church, officiated. Interment was in Cedarlawn Memorial Park, Sherman. Memorials may be made to the Scottish Rite Hospital of Dallas or the American Cancer Society. Beattie C. Clark was born September 29, 1922 in Ft. Worth, son of John Beattie and Carrie Clark. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the VFW Post 708 in Ft. Worth. Beattie received his BA and MA degrees in government from TCU in 1954. Throughout his years of employment, he worked for the T&P Railway, the Department of Defense, Bell Helicopter and the Department of Human Resources, from which he retired in 1975. He married Virginia Nelson on January 19, 1952 in Ft. Worth. Beattie struggled through many physical challenges, especially in the last years of his life. He was a Christian man who loved life, his family and friends. Survivors include his wife, Virginia, of Melissa; daughter, Carol Grisham and husband, Ray, and granddaughter, Carrie, of Denison; son, John Clark and wife, Donna, and granddaughter, Jessica and 2 grandsons, John and Collin, of Celina; and a daughter, Nancy James and husband, George and granddaughter, Monica, and grandson, Grant, of Melissa; brother, Douglas Clark and wife, Mary, of Colleyville; sister, Patsy Riddle of Euless; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
