Established 1948 Esther Cervantes 17 December 1926 - 21 September 2011 Refugio Cervantes 28 February 1917 - 29 February 1999 PFC US Army WWII Herald Democrat September 23, 2011 Funeral services for Esther Cervantes, age 84, of Sherman, Texas, were held at 1 p.m., Saturday, September 24, 2011 at the Waldo Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Ella Luna, Rev. William Delvalle Gonzalez and Rev. Juanita Carr officiated. Burial followed at Cedarlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Sherman. She went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, September 21, 2011. Esther was born on December 17, 1926 in Sherman, Texas, the daughter of Cecilio Morales and Frances Alvarado Morales. She attended Sherman schools. She married Refugio Cervantes in Grayson County and he preceded her in death February 25, 1999. Esther worked for Sherman Community Hospital, Chapel of Care Nursing Home and later Texas Instruments where she retired. Esther was a life long member of El Divino Salvador United Methodist Church. She is survived by her daughters, Dolores Cervantes and her fianc James Brisco, and Esther T. Cervantes; sons, Refugio Cervantes Jr., Daniel Cervantes, and Eugene Morales and wife Gloria all of Sherman, Texas; 15 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Genoveva Cunningham and husband Tom of Anna, Texas, Frances Carolan of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Juanita Carr of Sherman, Texas, and Rachel Aguilar of Indianapolis, Indiana; two brothers, Sam Morales and wife Helen of Sherman, Texas and Manuel Morales of Denison, Texas. Esther is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, Cecil Morales Jr. and Daniel Morales and two sisters, Helen Slaughter and Phebe Quick.
