Established 1948 Marie E. Clayton 1925 - 2017 Stanley L. Clayton, M.D. 1918 - 1996 The Herald Democrat September 1, 1996 Denison - Services for Stanley L. Clayton, M.D., of Denison, 78, who died August 31, 1996, at his home were held September 3, 1996 in St. Luke's Episcopal Church. Rev. Calvin Girvin officiated. Interment was in Cedarlawn Memorial Park. Arrangements were under the direction of Bratcher Funeral Home. Mr. Clayton was born January 26, 1918 in Ft. Worth, son of William E. and Marion Frances Clayton. He married Marie Johnson on August 7, 1971 in Denison and was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church. Mr. Clayton graduated from Fort Worth Central High School in 1934 and attended the University of Texas Arlington and University of Texas Austin. He graduated from University of Texas Medical School in Galveston and served his internship at Harris Hospital in Fort Worth. He did his residency at Parkland Hospital in Dallas. He served as a Captain in the Army during World War II and was a surgeon in the Army from July 1, 1942 to February 28, 1946. He is a member of Grayson County Medical Society, Texas Medical Association, Southwestern Surgical Society, Parkland Surgical Society, American Medical Association, and American College of Surgeons. He served as President of the staff of Texoma Medical Center, chief of surgery at MK&T Hospital and chief of staff at Madonna Hospital. Dr. Clayton served several years on the Denison School Board and also served as President. He was a member of Lone Star Masonic Lodge No. 433 and Heila Temple. Dr. and Mrs. Clayton recently celebrated their 27th wedding anniversary. Surviving are his wife, Marie Clayton of Denison; sons Charles Clayton and wife, Lynn, of Ft. Worth; Bob Clayton and wife, Carolyn, of P...., Washington; and Lamar Waller and wife, Susan, of Mesquite; daughters, Carol Ann Darwin and husband, Norman, of Ft. Worth, and Yvonne Burnett and husband, Durrell, of Denison; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Jack Lilley, Tom Redwine, Horace Groff, Bob Bratcher, Charles Burnett, Kurt Burnett, David Waller and Lyndon Wyatt. Honorary pallbearers were Gordon Teague and Scott Adams.
