Established 1948 The Herald Democrat January 7, 2016 Denison - Henry Ford Carter, age 90, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at Texoma Medical Center in Denison. Mr. Carter was born September 12, 1925 in Hillsboro, Texas, the son of Thomas and Ennice Sudduth Carter. At the age of 17, Mr. Carter joined the U.S. Navy where he served as a Telegraph Operator from 1943 - 1946 during World War II. After his service in the Navy, Henry married the love of his life, Lera Ruthell Jennings in McKinney, Texas and they remained faithfully together for over 67 years. Mr. Carter worked for the Katy Railroad as a Chief Dispatcher for 41 years until his retirement. Henry has lived in Denison since 1958 and was a faithful member of Unity Missionary Baptist Church where he worshiped and served the Lord with his church family. Mr. Carter is survived by his loving family, wife of 67 years, Ruthell Carter; daughter, Linda Anglin; six grandchildren, Ben Carter, Sean Carter, Todd Carter, Brad Carter, Zach Anglin and Evan Anglin; four great-grandchildren, Joe Carter, Jake Carter, Lexi Carter and E.J. Anglin; and numerous nieces nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Danny Carter, parents and five siblings. Funeral services for Mr. carter will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, January 9, 2016 at Unity Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Ryan Miller and Bro. Jim Branscum officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Cedarlawn Memorial Park.
