Denison - Virgil Eugene "Buck" Buchanan, 87, entered into eternal life Monday, April 4, 2016 at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas.
Buck was born November 3, 1928 in Arkansas City, Kansas, son of Harry Donald and Jasmon Marvin Buchanan.  He attended elementary school in Bells and high school in Denison.  Buck married the love of his life, Betty Cozby, June 16, 1951 in Sherman, Texas.
He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea.  Buck retired after 34 years from Texas Power and Light.  Later, with Betty by his side, they owned and operated together Texoma Feed and Garden for 30 years, where they made many good friends.  He loved bowling, horse racing, playing dominoes, traveling and fishing in Galveston.  He looked forward to his annual trip to Hot Springs, Arkansas, where he would take "his girls" - daughters and granddaughters - the the Arkansas Derby.  Buck loved spending time with his family and was always ready to go and travel; he especially enjoyed traveling with his grandchildren.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend.
Mr. Buchanan leaves behind his beloved wife of 65 years; daughters, Debra Hughes and husband, Wiley, of Denison; and Terri Wood of Denison; grandchildren, Holly High and husband, Brian, of Krum, Texas; Nikki Wood of Jacksonville, Florida; and Jacob Wood of Denison; great-grandchildren, Logan High and Lawson High, both of Krum, Texas; sister, Maxine Dykes of Sherman, Texas; uncle, Rev. John Billy Buchanan of Lancaster, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, James Buchanan.
Interment followed in Cedarlawn Memorial Park with military honors in Sherman, where he was carried to his final resting place by horse drawn carriage by Brian and Holly High.  Pallbearers were Jacob Wood, Wiley Hughes, Brian High, Pat Horton, Jack Spears, and Otis Tally.

Betty Buchanan, 83, slipped peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, August 3, 2017 after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Buchanan was born October 23, 1933 in Stamford, Texas, daughter of Howard and Hallie Ingram Cozby.  She was raised in Waco, Texas and attended La Vega High School.  Later, when her father was transferred to Denison with the Katy Railroad, she attended and graduated from Denison High School.
She met the love of her life, Virgil Eugene Buchanan, in Denison.  They married June 16, 1951 in Sherman.  After having 2 daughters, she attended Grayson College and earned her nursing degree.  She worked in the nursing field until her husband retired from TXU and started a new chapter in their life by owning and operating Texoma Feed and Garden for 30 years.
They also loved to travel and would take off on ventures on the spur of the moment.  This lead to her daughter, Terri, nicknaming them "Lucy and Ricky" because we never knew what they were going to do next.  There never was a dull moment.
The greatest joys of her life were her family and faith in Jesus Christ as she had many prayers answered in her life.  She was a member of Trinity Lighthouse Church for over 36 years.
Mrs. Buchanan leaves behind her daughters, Debra Hughes and husband, Wiley, of Denison, Texas; and Terri Wood of Denison, Texas; grandchildren, Holly High and and husband, Brian, of Krum, Texas; Nikki Wood of Denison, Texas; and Jacob Wood of Denison, Texas; great-grandchildren, Logan High and Lawson High, both of Krum, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband of 65 years.
Funeral services were held Saturday morning, August 5, 2017 at Fisher Funeral Chapel with Pastor Raymond England officiating.  Interment followed in Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman.  Pallbearers were Wiley Hughes, Brian High, Logan High, Lawson High, Jake Wood and Mike Hargrove.  Arrangements were under the direction of FIsher Funeral Home in Denison.
