Established 1948 Lillie Belle Brown 10 February 1919 - 24 January 2011 The Herald Democrat January 27, 2011 WHITEWRIGHT - Services for Lillie Belle Brown, 91-year-old Whitewright resident, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 28 in the Carrie White Chapel at Angelic Mortuary in Sherman. Mrs. Brown passed away Monday, Jan. 24, 2011 at Texoma Healthcare Center. Officiating will be Rev. Lawrence Gentry, pastor of Victory Baptist Church in Denison. Burial will follow at Cedarlawn Memorial Park. Mrs. Brown was born on Feb. 10, 1919 in Oakwood, daughter of Henry and Fadie Johnson Tryon and attended Oakwood Public Schools. She married Wardell Brown in August of 1939 in Oakwood. He preceded her in death. She was the oldest surviving member of the First Missionary Baptist Church of Whitewright. She served faithfully in the Choir and Usher ministries. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a certified nurse's aide and worked at Whitewright Nursing Home for many years. Mrs. Brown is survived by her sons, Gene Brown of Dallas, Henry Brown of Sherman, Marvin Brown of Denison, Marlin Brown of Whitewright, Joe Nathan Brown of Sherman, and Joe Earl Brown of Whitewright; daughters, Opal Scruggs and Bettye Campbell, both of Sherman; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and other relatives. Repast for the family and friends will be held at Fellowship Baptist Church, 1615 S. Travis, following the committal service.
