Brown 6 May 1932 - 10 October 2008 Master Sergeant US Air Force Vietnam Frank Brown passed away October 10, 2008 at Texoma Medical Center at age 76 with his wife of 53 years and family by his side. Services were held Wednesday morning, October 15, 2008 at Bratcher Funeral Home. Dr. Ron Cunningham officiated; Masonic and military burial followed at Cedarlawn Cemetery. Frank was born May 6, 1932 in Fredericksburg, Virginia, son of Clifford Mason and Jessie Sullivan Brown. He graduated from Falmouth High School in Stafford County, Virginia in 1951. He joined the Air Force in 1951. He married Ima Jean Blackburn on May 19, 1955 in Denison. They had a 20 year career in the Air Force being at Virginia, Washington, D.C., Austin, Icelandm Vietnam in 1968-1969 and a 4-year tour at the Pentagon. He retired as a Master Sergeant in 1972. He was awarded the following medals and awards: Bronze Star Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Joint Chiefs of Staff Badge, and others. While in the military, Frank attended New Mexico Western College, Silver City, New Mexico. After graduation in 1972, he attended Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, Oklahoma. He received a Bachelor of Science in 1975 and Master of Behavior Studies in 1978. He worked for MHMR as counselor for 4 years. He also worked for American General for 15 years, retiring as Staff Manager in 1994. For the last 5 years, Frank volunteered at TCOG with the Medication Assistance Program. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member and past Worshipful Master of Billie Mosse Lodge. He was also a member of Dallas Scottish Rite Bodies and Grayson County Scottish Rite Association of Sherman. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; one brother and one sister. Frank is survived by his wife of 53 years; daughter, Natalie Griffin and husband, James, of Ardmore, Oklahoma;son, Timothy F. Brown and wife, Gayle, of Bells; granddaughter, Meredith Marshall and husband, Jace, of Norman, Oklahoma; grandson, Jacob Owen Griffin of Durant, Oklahoma; granddaughter, Shelby J. Brown of Bells; and one great-granddaughter, Caroline J. Marshall of Norman, Oklahoma. He is survived by brothers, Jack Brown, John Brown, Larry Brown and Silas Brown; and special cousin, Charlie Conner, all of Fredericksburg, Virginia; sister-in-law, Mary Jo Stalcup and husband, Doyle, of Roanoke; and 4 nieces. Pallbearers were Dean Emerson, Andy Faber, Ken Gossage, Larry, Rowan, Doyle Stalcup, and Ken Roesler. Honorary pallbearers were Lynn Watts, Ronnie Burris, Harold Swilling, Sr., Don Blakely, and members of the Bille Mosse Lodge No. 1152 of Denison. In life as in the shadow of death, Frank, Dad, Pop, kept positive and optimistic. He never said, "Why me?" or "Pity me." with his battle with cancer. He lived his life with integrity and courage and faced his death with integrity and courage. No regrets. - - - Bratcher Funeral Home Ima Jean Brown, our loving Nanny of Denison, passed away January 29, 2019 at the Homestead of Sherman. She was born August 13, 1934 in Sherman, Texas. Ima Jean lived most of her life in Denison. She graduated from Denison High School in 1951 and married the love of her life, H.F. "Frank" Brown on May 19, 1955; and they were married for 53 years. A lifelong member of Hyde Park Presbyterian Church, she loved to travel, was a voracious reader, loved history, especially enjoyed 4 years in Mt. Vernon, Virginia, also Austin and Hampton, Virginia. She also loved her conservative politics a little to the right, was an excellent cook, liked to watch Ranger baseball and Cowboy football, was very competitive and believed practice makes perfect. Better to have tried and failed than never to have tried at all; she had a never give up attitude. Jean is survived by daughter, Natalie and husband, James Griffin of Ardmore, Oklahoma; son, TImothy F. and Gayle Brown, of Bells, Texas; grandchildren, Meredith Jean and Jace Marshall of Moore, Oklahoma; Jacob Griffin of Madill, Oklahoma; Shelby J. Brown of Bells, Texas; great-grandchildren, Caroine Jean and Griffin Marshall of Moore, Oklahoma; sister, Mary Jo and Doyle Stalcup, of Keller, Texas; nieces, Diann Stalcup and Hamen Shorter of Burleson, Texas; Debbie and Doug Sypert of Hurst, Texas; Denise and Paul Christopher of Haslet, Texas; and Deidra and Craig Morgan of Hurst, Texas. Jean is preceded by her husband; and parents. Graveside services were held at noon on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman, Texas.
