Established 1948 Hayward Brown 1939 - 2016 Shirley Ann Brown 1943 - Hayward Brown was born in Denison, Texas, son of Frank and Rhobelia Brown on May 12, 1939. He was the fourth child out of ten born to this union. Hayward attended Terrell School in Denison and then spent the next 50 years in California. He loved God, his family, and friends throughout his life. He was a self-taught man who used his abilities to become one of the best truck drivers and diesel mechanics in Southern California and later at Loves Travel Stop in Colbert, Oklahoma. In his early life he met and married Cecelia Doss and together they raised five children. Later in life he married Shirley Ann Underwood. They were married for 35 years and raised one son together. He is survived by his wife, Shirley, of the home; daughters, Vivian Brown Smith of Conyers, Georgia; Debra Ann Doss and Mary J. Russell, both of Oceanside, California; and Tracy D. Armistead of Sherman; sons, Hayward Brown, Jr. of Playa del Rey, California; and Deon Jan Brown of Denison; two brothers, William Brown of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and Mildred Ball of Glen Avon, California; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and in-laws. Serving as pallbearers were Deon Jan Brown, Hayward Brown, Jr., Bronz Carlisle, Deshawn Brown, Walker Mitchell, and Luis Arceo. Honorary pallbearers were Darryl Herbst and Derek Arceo. Funeral services were held at Grace Lutheran Church, Denison on Monday, June 6 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Michael Matill officiating. Burial followed in Cedarlawn Memorial Park. Arrangements were under the direction of James E. Smith and Waldo Funeral Home.
