Established 1948   Rickey Ray Benedict 22 November 1965 - 2 October 1981  Sherman Democrat 4 October 1981 Pg.A-11 Rickey was born in Sherman, Texas, son of Roger and Susie Nystrom Benedict. He died at a local Sherman hospital after a lengthy illness. He attended Sherman schools and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Left to cherish his memories, he is survived by his parents; brothers, Ronney and Toney Benedict; sister, Ronda Benedict; grandparents, Mrs. Mildred Benedict and Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Medrano; and great-grandfather, Virgil Brisco all of Sherman. Services were held at the Dannel & Horton Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Sid Hunter and Rev. Gerald Watkins of Calvary Baptist Church officiating. Pallbearers were Steven Hammonds, Bob Hammonds, Leroy Fountain, Rickey Fountain, Roy Goforth and WaIter Wolfing.
