Established 1948 James Edward Blount was born October 28, 1929 in Bonham, Texas and entered the kingdom of Heaven on October 23, 2018. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dorothea "Dodie" Elizabeth Blount, to whom he was happily married for 64 years, as well as his parents, Howard and Cassie Pearl; his siblings, Kay McClain, David Blount, Betty Hubert, and Robert Blount. He is survived by his sister, Judy Bledsoe; sons and daughters-in-law, Gene and Sue; Dean; Lewis and Denise; Wayne and Lynn and Glen and Cynthia; 20 grandchildren and 33 great-granchildren, as well as other relatives and friends. Like James, a servant of God and brother of Jesus, James Blount was a just, selfless, wise man. James served his country from 1948 to 1952 as a Marine in Platoon 88, out of San Diego. He was a humble veteran who loved his nation. James worked hard in the manufacturing industry at Johns-Manville for over 30 years, including induction to the Quarter Century Club, all while maintaining the farm at home. He started Blount Farms, where the family raises high quality show livestock for the youth of our nation. This passion came from his childhood where his father and family worked on a commercial dairy farm, which is also where he found his love and skills for dairy judging, animal husbandry, and livestock evaluation. Graveside services with military honors were held Thursday morning, October 25, 2018 at Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to People Who Care, 521 N.
