Established 1948   Betty Jean Brown, 87, of Sherman, Texas passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas, Texas. She was born on November 25, 1932 in Bells, Texas, daughter of William Martin Lawhon and Jesker Wilson Lawhon. Betty was a graduate of Bells High School. She worked for GTE and retired after 38 years of service as a Customer Service Representative. Betty married Joe Charles Brown in Sherman on December 13, 1952. He preceded her in death on December 30, 2001. She was a longtime member of West Sherman Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Rickey Dwayne Brown; brothers, J.C. Lawhon, Billy Ray Lawhon, and Hugh Lawhon. Betty is survived by her granddaughters, Sharee Whitworth; Tanaaya Konopka and husband, Tom; and Amber Brown; great-grandchildren: Shay Reimer, Lexi and Luke Whitworth; nephews, David Lawhon and wife, Sue; and James Lawhon and wife, Becky. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning, December 17, 2019 at the Chapel on the Hill at Cedarlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Sherman with Rev. Danny Wood of West Sherman Baptist Church officiating.
