Established 1948 Dorothy L. Allen 1929 - 2018 Roy W. Allen 1916 - 1986 Dorothy Louise Allen, 88, who formerly lived 45+ years in Denison, Texas, passed away on Sunday, May 6, 2018. Dorothy was born Monday, December 16, 1929 in Sherman. Texas, daughter of Flora Knox Gordon and John Robert Gordon. Dorothy was Pentacostal by faith and loved going to church and her extended church family, but especially loved the gospel music. Dorothy loved nature, loved all animals, and wanted to be outside every chance she could. working in her yard or in her beautiful flower beds. She would always connect with nature by being barefooted outside. She loved dolls and collected angels. She had a kind, gentle spirit and was generous and always helping someone in whatever way she could. Dorothy was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend. but always held her children and grandchildren at the top. She called her daughter, Judy Bailey, every morning for years to get her day started with Dr. Pepper in hand most anytime you saw her. Dorothy loved children and couldn't wait to go to the grocery store just to hug all of the children's necks that she could. Dorothy is survived by sons, David H. Johnson and wife, Gail, of Forney, Texas; Jim Johnson and wife, Cynthia, of Mesquite, Texas; and Ralph Johnson and wife, Tamara. of Kemp. Texas; daughters, Ellen L. Welch and husband, John, of Terrell, Texas; Judy Johnson Bailey and husband, Jay, of Scroggins, Texas; and Brenda Matlock and husband, Bob, of Ada, Oklahoma. She leaves behind a legacy of 26 grandchildren; 66 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and many beloved Denison friends. Dorothy was preceded in death by son, Johnny Nolen Johnson; and her parents. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon, May 11, 2018 with Bro. Raymond England, pastor of Trinity Lighthouse Church of Denison, officiating. Burial was in Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman, Texas.
