Established 1948 Services for Joy C. Allen, 95 and a half-year-old Denison resident, were held Thursday morning, March 10, 2022 at West Sherman Baptist Church. She went to be in the arms of Jesus on Friday, March 4, 2022, in Sherman, Texas. Officiating were Bro. Danny Wood of the church. Burial was held at Cedarlawn Memorial Park. Mrs. Allen was born on June 7, 1926 in Denison, Texas, daughter of Cleve and Mable Lee Cole. She graduated from Denison High School in 1943. She married the love of her life, Henry Walker Allen, on March 19, 1946. She worked for the Denison District, the War Department of Dallas, and the Perrin Air Force Base. She retired from the Corp of Engineers after 48 years. At the time of her passing, she was an employee of the Denison Wal-Mart, where she had worked for the last 35 years. She enjoyed traveling around the country, square dancing with her husband before his sudden passing in 1968. She loved sewing, making holiday vests for family, and spending time with her loved ones. Surviving are her brother, Ovid Cole and wife, Jo, of Sherman; son-in-law, Michael Hastings of Sherman; granddaughter, Tammy Taylor and fiance, Jackie, of Sherman; grandson, Tracy Taylor of Denison; granddaughter-in-law, Rebecca Taylor of Denison; great-grandson, Justin Copeland and wife, Jeanette, of Pottsboro; great-granddaughter, Stevi Clayton and husband, Brian of Valley View; grant-granddaughter, Cortnie Webb and fiance, Stephanie, of Frisco; nephews, Ovid "Bubba" COle of Sherman; Robbie Cole and wife, Tammy of Sherman; nieces, Vickie Pearson and husband, Bob, of Kentucky; Tertri Stumpp of Denison, and Sue Sterling of Sherman; great-great-grandson, Casin Clayton of Valley View; and numerous other cousins. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Judy Hastings; grandson, Troy Taylor; parents, Cleve and Mable Cole; granddaughter, Michele Taylor and husband, Henry Walker Allen. Pallbearers were Michael Hastings, Ovid Cole, Robbie Cole, Jackie Taylor, Church Sterling, III, and Brian Clayton.
