 Vernon Coolidge Ashinhurst was born April 19, 1925 on the family farm, son of John M., Sr. and Eula G. Henderson Ashinhurst. He passed from this life on September 12, 2017 in Durant, Oklahoma at the age of 92. Vernon was married to Geneva Donaho Ashinhurst and they were blessed with 44 years together until her passing. Vernon proudly served his county in the United States Army and during World War II until his honorable discharge. A resident of Durant, Oklahoma, Vernon spent his working life in Sherman, Texas; he worked for Knight Furniture Store for over 30 years. He was of the Baptist faith; he enjoyed fishing and providing for his family. Vernon was preceded in death by his parents; wife; 2 brothers, 4 sisters; and sister-in-law, Doris Ashinhurst. Vernon is survived by his grandsons, Bradley and Brandon Crosby; and Michael Jr. and Cory Armstrong; brother, John Lindy Ashinhurst; nephew, Roger Allan Ashinhurst; and numerous other grandchildren and extended family. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, September 19, 2017 at Brown's Funeral Service chapel. Pastor Butch Blagg officiated. Interment followed in Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman, Texas.
