Akin 1891 - 1953 The Denison Press Friday, October 23, 1953 pg. 2 Funeral services were held at Sunnyside Baptist Church Sunday afternoon for Charles E. Akin, 62, who died suddenly at his home, 811 W. Coffin, Saturday morning. Rev. Vernon Price officiated and interment was in Cedarlawn Memorial Park with Bratcher-Moore Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Akin was employed at the Denison Cotton Mill. He was born in South Carolina September 27, 1891, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Akin. He was married in 1916 to Caroline Shires. They resided in Hendrix, Oklahoma before coming to Denison about 9 years ago. Survivors include 2 brothers, Oscar Akin of Whitesboro and Will Akin of Lubbock; 3 sisters, Mrs. Ida Burleson of Whitesboro, Mrs. Emma Gist of Bells, and Mrs. Rebecca Nations of Durant.
