Established 1948   Barbara Burleson Akers 22 March 1931 - Bobby Von Akers 26 November 1932 - 18 September 1996   Sherman Democrat Thursday, September 19, 1996 Sherman - Services for Bobby Von Akers, 63-year-old Sherman resident, were held at 2 p.m. Friday in Waldo Funeral Home Chapel. He died Wednesday, September 18, 1996, at Wilson N. Jones Hospital. Officiating were Rev. Tim Clayton, pastor of East Sherman Baptist Church in Sherman, and Rev. Thomas Beall. Burial was in Cedarlawn Memorial Park. Mr. Akers was born on November 26, 1932, in Van Alstyne, the son of Ruby Littrell and Clyde Akers. He graduated from Tom Bean High School. He attended North Texas State University and Southern Methodist University. Me married Barbara Burleson on September 27, 1952, in Bells. Mr. Akers worked for Anderson Clayton and later for Kraft for 32 years. He was a warehouse and shipping supervisor. Pallbearers were Mike Wynne, Pat Teague, Tommy Burleson, Jimmy Burleson, Larry Burleson, Jerry Gray, David Smith and David McAnaney. Surviving are his wife, Barbara Akers of Sherman; son, Danny Akers of Sherman; daughter and son-in-law, Von Neita and Stephen McAnaney of Denison; several nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to East Sherman Baptist Church Building Fund, 910 East King, Sherman, Texas, 75090.
