The Sunday Gazetteer Sunday, December 31, 1911 pg. 1 DEATH OF STEVE BROWN Old acquaintances of Steve Brown were shocked to learn when they came down town Monday that a telegram had been received from Texico, New Mexico, announcing his death. Later it was learned that he had an attack of pneumonia, which was complicated with asthma, with which he had been troubled for a number of years, which baffled the skill of the physicians. Steve Brown was a former partner of Louis Hoerr in this city a number of years. He had been in business in Texico about 5 years. He came to this city some time in 1882. He was quiet in demeanor, unobtrusive, good natured, strictly honest and temperate in his habits. His sister, Mrs. J.H. Nolan, was notified of the serious condition of her brother Sunday, and started at once for Texico, but he had passed away when she arrived Monday evening. He leaves a wife, who was at his bedside during his sickness, but they had no children. Mr. Brown has 2 brothers, John Brown of Newton, Missouri and Dr. W.M. Brown of Salt Lake City, Utahl. The remains were brought to Denison Wednesday. The funeral was delayed untiL Friday forenoon for the arrival of a brother. Services were conducted by Father Donohoe at the St. Savier Auditorium.
