Mary Owens 28 October 1870 - 10 October 1918
The Sunday Gazetteer Sunday, October 30, 1904 The Denison Herald reports the latest baby feat. The third largest baby ever born into this vale of tears and by far the largest ever born in Texas or Grayson county was born Tuesday night to Mr. and Mrs. John Owens, who reside 3 miles west of Denison. The baby is a girl and weighs exactly 22 pounds and 3 ounces and the second largest weighted 23 pounds. Little Miss Owens is just 2 pounds and 3 ounces short of the record. When it is recalled that babies usually weigh less than 10 pounds at birth, it is plain that Miss Owens is no pigmy. She is in superb health and has an appetite that corresponds with her size. The mother of the child is doing well. The Sunday Gazetteer Sunday, January 11, 1891 pg. 4 This morning Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Owens have a 15-pound baby boy at their home.
