The Denison Press June 26, 1942 TOM FOLEY, RETIRED BANK V.P. DIES HERE THURS. Thomas P. Foley, 72, for many years of of Texas' foremost bankers and business men and connected with the State National bank for more than 40 years, serving in several capacities until reaching the position of vice-president and cashier, but more recently retiring from active service, died at a local hospital at 11 p.m. Thursday. He resided for many years at 101 W. Sears street. He had been ill for one week, entering the hospital Sunday. Funeral services were held Sunday morning from St. Patrick's church. Interment was at Calvary with Short-Murray directing. Mr. Foley was born July 6, 1860 in Indiana, his parents being Mr. and Mrs. D.F. Foley. He came to Denison as a young man from Parsons, Kansas in 1873 and has made his home here since that time. He entered the employ of the State National Bank when G.L. Blackford, deceased, was the president, in 1901, and was in charge of the collection department. His rise was in line with his devotion and service and for more than 25 years he has been the guiding counsel to many and gave material and valuable support and advice to hundreds of Denison young men and women, as well as to the aged of the city, regarding their financial matters. He served as the treasurer of the city, the Chamber of Commerce, treasurer of the Elks lodge and in other public relations. He was a graduate of the St. Francis Institute of St. Paul, Kansas, and a member of St. Patrick's church. Surviving are one son, Roland, of Corpus Christi; and a sister, Mrs. Clara Mellon, of California.
