The Denison Press Wednesday, July 17, 1940 pg. 1 Amos R. Malone [sic], 72, a retired Katy passenger conductor and a resident of Denison 45 years, died at 8:35 a.m. today at the Katy hospital following an illness of 2 years, one week of which was spent at the hospital. He resided at 531 W. Gandy street. Funeral arrangements were in charge of Short-Murray. Mr. Malone was born December 15, 1866, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Malone at Lonbardville, Illinois and was reared and educated at that point. He was married to Miss Naomi E. Morgan at Gainesville, Texas, June 4, 1902. Mr. Malone entered railroad service here as brakeman, December 13, 1894 and was promoted to conductor March 1, 1897 while on the North Texas district between Denison and Waco. He retired under provisions of the railway retirement act, September 22, 1937. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic church and Order of Railway Conductors. Surviving are his widow; a son, William of Washington, D.C.; a daughter, Mrs. Cecil M. Green of Ft. Worth; and 4 grandchildren.
