The Sunday Gazetteer Sunday, March 27, 1910 pg. 3 Sister Scholastica Tuesday evening, March 15, at 6 o'clock, Sister Scholastica, of othe Sisters of St. Mary, breathed her last at St. Xavier's Academy. Sister Scholastica came to Denison three years ago, and was prefect of studies, until failing health about a year ago compelled her to give up these duties for those less arduous. Before coming to Denison, Sister Scholastica was Superioress of the St. Ignatius Academy, Fort Worth, and prior to that was Superioress of the Academy of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, Corsicana. Sister Scholastica, in the world Agnes Allen, was born in Rochester, N.Y., and took the veil at St. Joseph's Academy, Lockport, N.Y., the mother house of the Order of St. Mary, when about twenty years of age. Soon after her religious profession she came to Texas and for twenty-five years was stationed at various academies of the order in the state. She was strict with those under her charge, but just in all her dealings with her pupils, and just as strict with herself as with others. Sister Scholastica was in the forty-ninth year of her age and the twenty-ninth year of her religious profession. Death came as a relief to months of suffering, borne with patience and resignation. Tenderly cared for by her Sisters in religion and happy in the consolation of her religion and the reception of the Sacraments, she peacefully passed away to the reward of a truly devloted life spent in the service of God. Funeral services were held in St. Patrick's Church Wednesday evening at four o'clock by Rev. Fr. Maginn, interment following in the Sisters' lot in Calvary cemetery. The funeral corgete was one of the largest ever held from St. Patrick's Church. The boarders and day pupils of St. Xavier's attended in a body. May she rest in peace.
