The Herald Democrat September 21, 2009 William Lee (Bill) Orrick entered into the Kingdom of Heaven on Sept. 18, 2009 at the age of 71. He was born on Sept. 15, 1938 in Borger to Marion Glover (Puffy) Orrick and Nancy Alice Orrick (Smith). Bill attended Borger schools where he graduated in 1956. He enlisted into the U.S. Army in 1956 and served until 1959. He was stationed at Fort Mammoth, N.J., where he met his wife of 52 years Margaret Victoria Apito. They were married on Nov. 16, 1957. They lived in Plainfield, New Jersey from 1959 until 1970 where Bill was a fireman for the Plainfield Fire Department and opened his first music store. In 1970 Bill moved his family to Denison, where he worked for the Denison Fire Department for two years. For the next several years he worked for Nabisco Brands, Daniel Construction Company and Voss Construction Company before going into business for himself. Bill loved to cook, he opened Big O's Sandwich Shop in downtown Denison serving some of his favorite recipes. Bill had a love and knowledge for music which allowed him to open a music store in Denison where he repaired many instruments of all kinds. Bill met many people, he never knew a stranger. He could light up a room with his smile and his love for playing his guitar and singing. Bill made many friends, he had a heart of gold and was loved by many. Bill is survived by his wife Margaret; daughters Nancy Norvell and fiance Russell Geiger of Denison, Vicki Russell and husband Donnie of Bells, Michelle Tatum and husband Lewis of Sulphur Springs, Lisa Polston and husband Steve of Denison; son William (Billy) Orrick of Sherman and daughter-in-law Stephanie of Denison; grandchildren Jerry, Billy, Tiffany, Margaret and Joshua Matthews, Justin, Weston and Chyenne Russell, Lewis, Riley and Alina Tatum, Brooke Richardson, Lauren Hilliard, Preston Polston, Breanna, Nick, Kristin and Nathan Orrick; great-grandchildren, Megan Pluff, Triston and Jaden Matthews, Preston, Brooklyn, Peyton, and Parker Matthews, Chase Tebay, Jordyn and Caedon Ailey, Hayleigh Fryar, Sidney, Syerry and Christopher Hosey, Madison, Dyllion and Gavin Matthews, Ryleigh and Lyndon Hilliard and Laney Tatum. He is also survived by one brother Richard Orrick and wife Penny of Desoto, and one sister Molly Stepko and husband Frank of North Carolina, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and great-grandson Ashton Scott Matthews. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday Sept. 22, 2009 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Deacon Gary Vogel officiating. Rosary will be said at 6:30 p.m. on Monday Sept. 21, 2009 at Johnson-Moore Funeral Home in Denison with family visitation to follow. Pallbearers will be Mark Duvall, Jerry Hunter, Joshua Matthews, Justin Russell, Riley Tatum and David Hilliard. Honorary pallbearer will be his dear friend Jack Richardson.
