John J. Toner, Jr. 28 October 1887 - 30 June 1956 The Denison Press Friday, July 6, 1956 pg. 3 Funeral services were held at St. Patrick's Catholic church Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock for John J. Toner, 68, who died Saturday, June 30, after a year and a half illness. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. Thomas S. Zachary, pastor, officiated and burial was in Calvary cemetery with Bratcher-Moore Funeral Home in charge. Mr. Toner, 68, died at the home of his sister, Mrs. May Ellington, 610 W. Acheson. He was born in Denison October 28, 1887, the son of Mr. and Mrs. J.J. Toner, Sr. and had lived here most of his life. His home was at 320 W. Chestnut. He had operated a tin shop for many years until he retired in 1945. He was a member of St. Patrick's church. He is survived by a brother, James H. Toner, Denison and four sisters: Mrs. May Ellington, Miss Elizabeth Toner and Mrs. Margaret Standifer, all of Denison; and Miss Kate Toner of El Paso.

Acheson, Friday, January 9, was buried in Calvary Cemetery Monday after services at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. The Rev. Monsgr. Thomas Zachry officiated. Bratcher Funeral Home was in charge. Miss Toner was born in Denison, July 12, 1890, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John J. Toner. She received her education at St. Xaviers Academy and had lived all her life in Denison. She was a practical nurse. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Survivors include three sisters, Mrs. C.J. Ellington, Mrs. Margaret Standifer, Denison; and Miss Kate Toner, El Paso; and a brother, James Toner, Denison.
