Barbara Ann Toner 7 September 1862 - 21 January 1905 John Joseph Toner 16 October 1852 - 2 April 1937 The Sunday Gazetteer Sunday, January 29, 1905 pg. 4 A NOBLE WOMAN GONE Mrs. Barbara Anne Toner, wife of John J. Toner, died Saturday evening at 6:30 at the family home, 223 Morgan St., quite suddenly of neuralgia of the heart. Mrs. Toner was 42 years of age at the time of her death. She was born and raised in Jackson, Michigan, but had resided in Denison the past twenty-five years, and was married in this city in 1881 to the husband who, with seven children survive her, two children having preceded the mother in death. Mrs. Toner was essentially a home loving woman. Her name never shown in the social columns of the papers but it is enshrined in a halo of light in the hearts of her husband and children, who will miss her all the more because she was always at home. To her, home was the hallowed spot and the devotion of her husband and children to her memory will be the most lasting tribute which can be paid to a loving, devoted wife and mother. Those left to mourn her loss are her husband, Mrs. Charles Ellington, Miss Katie, John J., Jr., Lizzie, Jimmie, Marguerite, and an infant daughter seven weeks old and one granddaughter. The funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2:30 from St. Patrick's church, conducted by Rev. Father Crowley. Interment was made in Calvary Cemetery where beside her loved ones gone before, she sleeps in peace, free from suffering. Many beautiful floral tributes, offerings of friends, cover the lowly mound where lies all that is mortal of a noble woman gone to rest. The Gazetteer extends heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved ones.
