The Sunday Gazetteer Sunday, March 23, 1902 pg. 3 CONDENSED HOME NEWS Monday, May 17 - The funeral of old man Shea, which took place Saturday afternoon, was quite largely attended. Services were held at the church. Among the pallbearers were Tim Murphy and Councilman M.J. Sweeney, who had known the old gentleman so well in life. The Sunday Gazetteer Sunday, September 6, 1903 pg.3 CONDENSED HOME NEWS Mary Shea, who would have been 98 years old the 22nd of next December, was buried here a few days ago. The remains were brought to Denison by her son, W.M. Smith, from Coalgate, where she died. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Father Crowley. Mrs. Shea would have probably passed the 100 mile post if she had not met with an accident, having stumbled and fell and fractured her hip bone. The old lady has for a number of years been a familiar figure on our streets. She was very active and alert even after she had passed her 95th year. The heat of the summer and the cold, blustering rigors of winter did not prevent her from taking her usual walk. The deceased was born in the city of Sligo, Ireland. She came to Denison with her husband in 1872. Calvary Cemetery Susan Hawkins © 2024 If you find any of Grayson County TXGenWeb links inoperable, please send me a message. |
