Barbara Pettit 10 August 1862 - 16 May 1892 The Sunday Gazetteer Sunday, May 22, 1892 pg. 1 MORTUARY Mrs. Barbara Pettit, wife of Mr. Frank Pettit and daughter of ex-Councilman, J.C. Brunett, died Monday at San Antonio. The lady had been quite ill for a long time, and some two weeks since, in company with her husband, left for southwest Texas with the hope of restoring her health. During the first days at San Antonio she apparently improved, but on Friday of last week a change for the worse set in, and the decline through Saturday and Sunday, while not rapid, was gradual. The remains were embalmbed and started north Tuesday and arrived here Wednesday at noon. Funeral services were held Thursday morning at 9:30 o'clock at St. Patrick's Catholic church, and at 10:30 the remains were interred in the family burial lot in Calvary cemetery, one mile north of the city. The lady had been living in Denison a lon time, and her friends were numbered by the hundreds. Her quiet and exemplary life was the true reflex of the noble woman she was.
