Swanner was learned. As the deceased belonged to one of the oldest and most noted of our early settlers, coming here with her father, J.C. Burnett, in 1876, the death of this most estimable woman is worth more than a passing notice. Mrs. Maggie Swanner was born in North Vernon, Indiana in 1869. At the time of her death, she was nearing her 41st year. She was married to Conductor B.J. Swanner in Denison, and leaves a little son. Mrs. Swanner was an affectionate wife and devoted mother. The crowning excellence of her admirable character was her love of home. All with whom she came in contact were recipients of courteous attention. She lived a life worthy of emulation. The death of Mrs. Swanner brings almost a sense of personal bereavement as the writer has intimately known the Brunett family for a period of over thirty years. To the bereaved husband and the motherless son our warmest sympathies go out. Mrs. Swanner's funeral was held at St. Patrick's church and was attended by a large circle of sympathizing friends. The services were conducted by Rev. Father Maginn. The interment was at Calvary Cemetery. The floral tributes were many.
