Stephen O'Brien Born in County Carlow, Ireland died 3 May 1894 The Sunday Gazetteer Sunday, May 6, 1894 pg. 6 RAILROAD RUMBLINGS About 10 o'clock Thursday morning a young man by the name of Steve O'Brien, a section workman, fell between the cars and was instantly killed at the Deaver Siding. O'Brien had been at work for Fireman William Rosey in the Denison south yards for two or more months, and boarded with O'Neil on East Crawford street. Thursday morning he went out on a work train and while unloading cars at Deaver the accident occurred. The body was brought in on No. 2 Thursday evening, and after preparation was interred in Oakwood cemetery, the railroad company defraying the expenses. O'Brien was a native of Ireland, and if he has any relatives in this country they are not known by any of his fellow workmen. The body was badly mutilated, the head being severed from the body and the arms and legs were ground to a pulp. LOCAL CONDENSATIONS Friday, May 4 - The remains of Steve O'Brien, the man killed yesterday at Deaver siding, were interred today in Oakwood cemetery.
