James M. Finn 1897 - 1897 The Sunday Gazetteer
Sunday, June 27, 1897 pg. 4 LITTLE JAMES MICHAEL FINN DEAD James Michael Finn, son of Mr. and Mrs. Barney Finn, aged 3 months and 1 day, died Tuesday after a brief illness. The death of the first born is a sad blow, and to the grief stricken parents will go out the condolence of many sympathetic hearts. James Michael Finn was the sunshine of a happy home, and his death recalls the pathetic words of the sweet Irish poet, Barry Cornwall: "And pieces of rings, and fragments of song which nobody sing, A lute unswept and a harp without strings, And a part of an infant's prayer." It is said that every infant that dies goes to heaven and we believe it. Death has glorified the child. The darling is gone, and yet he is not gone. Imagination perpetually renews his prattle, his infinite confidence, his goodnight kiss, that will be forever and forever a benediction. Every little garment he left contains a legacy of grief. There is a little grave over in Calvary cemetery, lying out in the dawn and the dew, awaiting the resurrection.
