Emma O. Hoey 1879 - 1944 George S. Hoey 1869 - 1942 The Denison Press Friday, August 7, 1942 pg. 1 George S. Hoey, 72, 527 W. Woodard, former real estate and insurance agent here, who has been residing at the home of a sister-in-law, Mrs. Lillian Beckett, Dallas, the past 2 months, died there last night at 9:20. Funeral services were held Saturday morning from St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Rev. Father T.S. Zachary officiating. Interment was at Calvary Cemetery. Short-Murray directing. A recitation of rosary service was held Friday night in Short-Murray chapel. Mr. Hoey suffered a paralytic strokc on April 22 and was at home some time before entering Baylor Hospital, Dallas. He was later removed to the home of Mrs. Beckett, a registered nurse. He was born December 25, 1869, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Hoey at Milliwood, Missouri, where he was reared and educated. He taught school in Missouri for several years before coming to Dallas where he was married to Miss Emma LaFon, November 23, 1904. He was train auditor out of Denison for the Katy railroad for several years, but for the last 20 years had been in the real estate and insurance business, maintaining an office with the C.J. Corcoran company, 113 N. Burnett. He was a member of St. Patrick's church, Knights of Columbus, Elks and Eagles lodges. Surviving are his widow; 3 sons, Dan S. Hoey of Dallas; John R. Hoey, U.S. Army; and George J. Hoey, Lexington, Kentucky; a daughter, Catherine Hoey of Dallas; 2 brothers, Charles Hoey of Springfield, Missouri; and Joey Hoey of Americus, Kansas; and 4 sisters, Miss Ursla Hoey, Ponca City, Oklahoma; Mrs. I.E. Word, of New Kirk, Oklahoma; Sister M. Liaoba, Peoria, Illinois; Sister Mary Zita, Bernallioa, New Mexico.
