Thursday, July 8, 1926 pg. 1 WILL CONTEST CASE Contest of probate of the will of M.D. Skaggs, deceased, went to trial Tuesday morning before a jury in the Fifteenth District Court. The case is on appeal from the County Court, where in October 1925, the contest was overruled. Guy Hamilton, named executor of the estate, offered the will for probate following the death of M.D. Skaggs at his home near Whitewright, May 2, 1925. The estate was valued at $12,000 by the applicant, Charley Skaggs, Wallace Skaggs, James Bales, James Richard Brame, nephews, and Catherine Bales and Froniz Hollingsworth, nieces, were named beneficiaries in the will. Maud May and about 41 others are contesting the probating of the will. Contestants estimate the value of the estate at $30,000, and declare the deceased was of unsound mind for fifty years preceding his death.
