FamilySearch has many death indexes and
certificates online for free;
Death records were
officially recorded in Texas as of
1903; however, it was not mandatory
until World War II.
The city of Denison kept earlier
records than the state, but only for
people living inside the Denison
city limits.
Many
early obituaries do not list the
burial location.
The death may have occurred prior to
recorded death certificates. These
have been added to the Grayson
County courthouse death records.
The
County Clerk's office will have all
other county death certificates.
Wills
and Probates are in the County Clerk's
office and often mention the death
dates.
