ANNE CLYMER GODDARD 1920 - 2013 Anne Clymer with niece, Marvis Anne Bryant ca 1945 Anne
was born in 1920, in Denison, Texas. She graduated from Denison High
School in the Class of 1937, where she achieved the honor of state
champion in debate. In 1941, she graduated from Southern Methodist
University, where she competed on the debate team and was a member of
the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, an association she enjoyed throughout
her life.
During World War II, she worked in our country's domestic support effort. Upon conclusion of the war in 1945, she married returning Capt. James Goddard, known to friends as "Pancho." They raised their children and lived variously in Denison, Center, Longview, Nacogdoches and lastly at Emerald Bay on Lake Palestine. Anna Goddard was fresh out of SMU. Her father sent her to help manage the Denison Poutry and Egg plant in Birmingham, Alabama. She was valued as counsel; friends and family alike sought her advice. An avid card player and always sharply dressed, her zest for life enlivened the room wherever she was. She and her husband, Pancho, were expert dancers, attracting admiration at the many Big Band events they attended.
