Amos Aaron Crabtree 1853 - 1932 Amos
Aaron Crabtree, the son of William Carroll Crabtree, was born March 23,
1853 in Newton Co., Missouri. At the age of five, his family was in
Navarro Co., TX where his mother died three years later. About 1871,
the Crabtree family traveled to Grayson Co., TX. William Carroll
Crabtree returned to Navarro Co. and died there in 1889. Also
living in Grayson County, was the family of William D. Crabtree.
William D. Crabtree was married to his first cousin, Rebecca Crabtree
who was William Carroll Crabtree's sister.
Elizabeth "Betty" Crabtree, the daughter of William D. & Rebecca Crabtree married Aaron Crabtree around 1875. Their children were:

died April 20, 1886. Aaron took their children to Blooming Grove, Texas
to be cared for by relatives. Aaron returned to Martin Springs, west of
Pottsboro. On March 5, 1888, he married Louisa Catherine Daniel,
daughter of Robert and Nancy Daniel. She was born June 23, 1873 in
Pottsboro, Grayson County, Texas. The Daniel family had come to Texas
in covered wagons, crossing the Red River on July 25, 1866. He
brought his three boys back to Grayson County. Shortly afterwards two
of the boys, ages 11 and 7, ran away; making their way back to Navarro
County. They were allowed to stay with family there.
Aaron and Louisa Crabtree moved to the Locust Community by 1900. By 1920, they had moved the family to the new town of Hagerman. Aaron's occupation was farmer and blacksmith. Louisa assisted the local doctor as a midwife. She eventually became the telephone switchboard operator for Hagerman. The switchboard was located in the front room of their home. Their children were:

Aaron Crabtree died June 25, 1932 and was buried June 27, 1932 in West
Hill Cemetery. Louisa moved to Whitesboro where she died May 6, 1954
and is, also, buried in West Hill Cemetery.
