JOSIE MAE GOODMAN
July 8, 1932 - 26 November 2014
Josie was born to the parentage of
Claude Barker, Jr. and Mary B. Espy Barker
in Trenton, Texas. Both have
preceded her in death. She was one
of eleven children from this union, nine
of which have preceded her in death.
Josie was educated at Fred Douglas
in Sherman, Texas and later received a CNA
certification in Dallas. She loved
taking care of people. Josie loved
her Jesus as much as she loved taking care
of people and working with her father in
church activities. She accepted
Christ as her Lord and Savior early in
life.
Josie met and married Ivy Goodman
and from this marriage was born two girls,
Laura and Oweita, and two boys, Jerry and
Larry. She always said God gave her
just what she wanted, two of each.
Sometime during the 1950s, Josie
remarried and moved to Dallas, Texas where
she worked in furniture industry as a
furniture upholsterer. She gathered
knowledge from other positions she held
until she found her niche in the health
field. She enjoyed this occupation until
she retired in mid-2000. She joined
Greater New Hope Baptist Church where she
was on the Usher Board until her health
began to fail.
Preceding her in death were her
parents; 8 brothers; 1 sister; and her
son, Jerry Goodman; and grandson, Kausua
Goodman.
Cherishing
her memories and carrying the torch are
children: Laura Allen (Charles); Oweita
Goodman-Watson; Bishop Larry Goodman
(Sara); sister, Delorise Crocket;
grandchildren: Carter Watson, Leslie
Allen, Stephanie Hawthorne, Dana
Goodman, Felecia Allen, Kimberly Norton,
