Friday, February 18, 1977 pg. 2 Whitewright - Services for Henry O. Lewis, 72, who died Thursday at a Sherman hospital, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bethel Baptist Church, conducted by Bro. Vernon Lewis. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery. Mr. Lewis was born in 1905 in Robert Lee, Texas, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel G. Lewis. He married Mamie Wood on November 8, 1922 in Brady. He was a former city judge of Whitewright who retired in July 1976. He was also retired after long service from the Continental Oil Co. He was a teacher of Men's Bible Class and a deacon at the Bethel Baptist Church where he was a member. Survivors are wife of Whitewright; sons, Rev. Vernon Lewis of Big Island, Virginia and Dan W. Lewis of Carrollton, Texas; daughter, Mrs. Charles Pierce of Whitewright; sisters, Mrs. Pearl Ditmore of Robert Lee, Texas and Mrs. Mary Hinton of Abilene; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be James H. Gosnell, Weldon Bartley, W.M. Williams, Robert Cawthon, James V. Owens and Edgar Bow.
