The Whitewright Sun Friday, July 16, 1915 pg.3 W.T. Windle, former citizen of Whitewright, died at his home in Dallas Monday night. The remains were shipped to this city Tuesday, accompanied by relatives and friends and laid to rest in the Bethel cemetery, 3 miles south of town. A number of sympathizing friends of this city met the bereaved family at the Katy station and accompanied the remains to the Bethel church south of town where the funeral services were conducted by Rev. J.L. Truett. Following Bro. Truett, J.P. Autrey, an old friend and neighbor of the deceased, made a short talk. He told of the many good traits of character of the departed one and of his love and friendship for his neighbors. Mr. Windle taught school at Bethel several years and was later engaged in the grocery business here but moved away several years ago. He was a high tone Christian gentleman and was held in high esteem by the citizens of this section. He had many friends and relatives here who were made sad when his death was announced. He was 53 years old and is survived by his wife and two sons. The Bonham Daily Favorite Wednesday, July 7, 1971 pg. 2 MRS. EDNA WINDLE, 100, SERVICES TO BE HELD THURSDAY Whitewright - Mrs. Edna WIndle, 100, died in a Whitewright nursing home at 9:40 a.m. Tuesday, July 6, 1971, after an extended illness. Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Thursday at Earnheart Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Charles R. Pearce, Bethel Baptist minister, officiating. Burial was in Bethel Cemetery. Mrs. Windle, who would have been 101, on July 31, was born July 31, 1870, at Bethel, south of Whitewright, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Worden. She married W.T. Windle on December 27, 1887. He preceded her in death July 12, 1950. [sic] At the time of her death, she was the oldest member of the Bethel Baptist Church and the oldest resident of the nursing home. Survivors are a son, L.L. Windle of Whitewright; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-great-grandchild. Active pallbearers were H.A. Bow, Clint Hopper, Dolph Hopper, Noel Miller, Jerry Pearce and Cecil Bartley.
