Friday, March 21, 1941 pg. 1 FORMER HOWE WOMAN DIES NEAR SHERMAN Sherman - Services for Mrs. Jennie Hanna Calhoun, 73, were held Tuesday afternoon at the First Baptist Church, conducted by Dr. J.A. Ellis, pastor, assisted by Rev. C. Chumbley of Howe. Mrs. Calhoun died Monday at 4 p.m. at her home on Sherman, route 1. Burial was in Bethany cemetery, east of Sherman. Mrs. Calhoun was born February 4, 1868 in St. Joseph, Missouri, a daughter of D.H. and Margaret Hamm Hanna. She came to Texas from Missouri and was married at Howe on February 20, 1887 to Erwin Calhoun who survives her. They had celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary on February 20. Mrs. Calhoun was a member of the First Baptist church. She is survived by her husband; 2 sons, Wesley Calhoun of Memphis and Clem Calhoun of Amarillo; 3 daughters, Mrs. P.M. Boaz and Mrs. R.O. Griffin of Sherman; and Mrs. J.B. Johnson of Huntsville; 2 brothers, J.A. and A.E. Hanna of Denison; 19 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Three of her children preceded her in death. Mrs. Calhoun was a relative of Bob Hanna, who recently moved to McAllen. Her marriage was performed in the home of Mr. and Mrs. G.W. Young, with whom she had previously made her home.
