Gordonville - Doris Rich, 92, went to meet her Lord and join her family on Thursday, September 9, 2010 Services were conducted Monday morning, September 13, 2010 at Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro with Larry Jones and Gene Deckard officiating. Burial was at Allison Cemetery in Gordonville. Pallbearers were grandsons and great-grandsons.
Doris was born April 3, 1918, daughter of Cyrus and Clara Wright Huffhines. She married her school sweetheart, J.B. Rich, in Gordonville on June 27, 1938. They shared 66 years of marriage before his death in 2003.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Harold and Cecil.
She is survived by her 3 children, Billy Rich and wife, Betty, of Abilene, Texas; Jerry Rich and wife, Melba, of Gordonville; and daughter, Marcena Flowers and husband, Travis, of Agency, Missouri; 11 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister, Wilma Isbon, of Dallas; and a special niece, Kay Hayden, also of Dallas.
She worked at Malouf Manufacturing and used her gift of sewing for matching outfits for her grandchildren. She was an active member of Gordonville Church of Christ for over 75 years.
She spent many happy hours gardening and cooking for family gatherings. She also worked side by side farming with her husband. The life she lived was an example of unconditional love for everyone. Her bright eyes and cheerful ways brought a smile for everyone who knew her.
