Margaret R. Fraley 1911 - 2010 Herald Democrat December 28, 2010 Margaret Fraley, died December 24, 2010, at Homestead of Sherman. Dannel Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Services were held Wednesday afternoon, December 29 in Dannel Home Chapel with LaRon Branson, Matt Hill, and Clarence Mounce officiating. Interment at Akers Cemetery in Sherman followed. Margaret was born to Gus and Julia Romey in Omaha, Nebraska on January 18, 1911. She was the oldest of 8 children. She had 5 brothers, Robert, Kenneth, Leon, Oliver, and Don and 2 sisters, Mildred Romey Riccitelli, and Maxine Romey Casey. She grew up in the Scottsbluff area and married Charley Henry Frailey on February 14, 1936. To this union was born Glen Fraley, Lester Fraley, Iris Fraley Smith, Merle Frailey, and Linda Fraley Randall. The family lived in and around Minatare, Scottsbluff, Mitchell and Lymon areas. Margaret worked for St. Mary's Hospital for 11 years as a Nurse's Aide. She retired in 1970 and moved to Hurst to be near children and grandchildren. She assisted the elderly in their homes for a time. In 1978, she moved to Valentine, Nebraska to be near her daughter, Iris, and her family. After her husband died in 1990, she moved to Newark to be with her son, Glen, and his family. She resided there until 2007, at which time she entered the Homestead of Sherman Nursing Home, located near her daughter, Linda, in Sherman. She lived at that facility until her death on December 24, 2010. She lived 99 years 11 months, and 6 days. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gus and Julia Romey; 3 brothers, Robert, Kenneth and Leon; 2 sisters, Maxine Casey and Mildred Riccitelli; one grandchild, Matthew Frailey, age 9; and 2 daughters-in-law, Barbara and Mary. She is survived by her 2 brothers, Oliver and Don; 5 children, Glen, Lester, Iris, Merle, Linda and their spouses; 19 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and many, many friends.
