Sherman - Graveside services for Joan Rogers were held Saturday morning, August 21, 2021 at Akers Cemetery.  Services were officiated by Pastor Eric Wyatt of First Baptist Church of Pottsboro.  Mrs. Rogers, 83, passed away Saturday, August 14, 2021 at Texoma Medical Center, Denison, Texas.
Joan was born January 11, 1938 in Sherman, daughter of John and Eunice Emily Harrison Thomas, Sr..  She graduated from Sherman schools and attended Grayson County College and Gainesville Junior College.  On September 4, 1953 she and Delmar Rogers were married in Sherman and were married for 61 years.  Joan worked for Johnson & Johnson for many years and retired from Grayson State Bank in 1992.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Pottsboro, volunteered for United Way and the Women's Crisis Center,  Joan was the glue that held her family together.  She was kind, compassionate and had unconditional love for her friends and family and when needed, she was ready at a moment's notice.  Joan was a fantastic cook and during the holidays her homemade divinity was in demand.
Mrs. Rogers was preceded in death by her husband; parents; daughter, Gennie Jennings Shaw; twin brother, John Thomas, Jr.; sisters, Frances Craven. Pearl Capps and Evelyn Mote; brother-in-lawn, George Joseph Rogers; grandson-in-law, D.P. Raybeck; nephew, Mike W. Craven; and former daughter-in-law, Sandy Jobe.
She is survived by her son, Dennis Rogers, Sr. and wife, Molly; grandchildren, Candace Hatch and husband, Lew; Kelly Marshall and husband, Denby; Wesley Rogers and wife, Kendall; Dennis Lee Rogers. Jr.; Mike Davis and wife, Nicole; Derek Davis and wife, Sandy; great-grandchildren, Forest Hatch; Madison Hatch; Austin Jennings; Jade Ward; Harlie Raybeck; Maci Rogers Howard; Landon Rogers; Caden Rogers; Grey Davis; Haygen Rogers; Serenity Cogburn and Everleigh Davis; great-great-grandchildren, Harper Howard; Easton Rogers; Onyx Young; Sapphire Ward; and Emory Cunningham; numerous nieces and nephews, which she loved and enjoyed spending time with; and lifelong friend and confidant, Dorla Walker. - - - Waldo Funeral Home
