Van Alstyne, Texas -- Harold Lloyd "H.L." McAfee of Van Alstyne, Texas, passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2016. Visitation will be Saturday, December 17, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. with services following at 2:00 p.m. at Scoggins Funeral Home - Van Alstyne, 637 West Van Alstyne Parkway, Van Alstyne, Texas 75495. Interment will be at Akers Cemetery, Sherman, Texas. Harold was born August 12, 1933, to Cecil and Alta Mae McAfee at their rural home south of Sherman. He played football at Howe High School and graduated in 1951. After serving his country in the United States Marine Corps, he became the long-time owner and operator of the H.L. McAfee Construction Company of Van Alstyne, Texas. Harold was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Mary Lois Bullard McAfee. He is survived by his children Mark McAfee of Collinsville, Michelle McAfee of Gainesville, Meredith Green and husband Bruce of Tom Bean, and Marty McAfee and wife Diana of Van Alstyne; grandchildren, Grant McAfee, Danielle McAfee, Jenna Savage, Heather McAfee, Branden Green, Alex McAfee, Kyle McAfee, and Kate McAfee; brothers, A.C. McAfee and wife Elaine of Mesquite, Virgil McAfee of Longview, and sister, Patsy Wallace and husband Gregg of Arlington. Harold will be dressed in starched jeans and shirt so the family requests anyone who attends the visitation and/or service, dress in comfortable, casual clothing. Mary Lois Bullard McAfee, 72, passed away after an extended illness May 25, 2012; she was born March 10, 1940 in Quitman, Texas, daughter of C.B. and Myrtle Bullard. She and Harold Lloyd McAfee were married September 26, 1962 in Sherman. Lois is survived by her husband; son Mark McAfee of Lake Kiowa; daughters, Michelle McAfee of Gainesville; Meredith McAfee-Green of Tom Bean; son Marty McAfee of Whitewright; seven grandchildren; brother, Robert Bullard of Lone Star, Texas; sister, Gracie Dyer of Hagansport, Texas; and brother Carl Bullard of Ennis, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Charles Lee Bullard and sister, Geraldine Easton. Graveside services were held Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at Aker's Cemetery, Sherman, Texas.
