Sherman- Funeral services for Norma C. Cavender Varnell will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, July 13 at Waldo Funeral Home. Rev. Mark Bennett of North Park Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will follow at Akers Cemetery. Mrs. Varnell, 81, passed away Sunday, July 10 at Stonebrook Assisted Living in Denison.
Norma was born January 5, 1935 near Luella, Texas to the late Leroy and Carnine (Sizemore) Groner. She was a longtime member of North Park Baptist Church.
Mrs. Varnell is survived by her husband L.D. “Dan” Varnell of Sherman; two sons, Greg Cavender and wife Peggy of Coppell and Scott Cavender and wife Shelby of Nashville; daughter-in-law, Janie Cavender of Denton County; four grandchildren, Austin Cavender, Denton Cavender, Kimberly Bottem, and Christina Davis; four great grandchildren; and two sisters, Connie Fallon of Bells and Lavitta Koch of San Antonio. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Charles Cavender; and one son, Wayne Cavender.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Tuesday, July 12 at Waldo Funeral Home. The register book can be signed at waldofuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s research.
