Parker Gaines Sr., age 72, passed away Monday, February 20, 2012 at
Texoma Medical Center.
Mr. Gaines is survived by his loving wife, Gail Gaines of Pottsboro, Texas; daughter, Karen Johnson of Rockwall, Texas; sons, Jack Gaines Jr. of Sherman, Texas; Keith Gaines of Allen, Texas; Greg Gaines of Gunter, Texas; and Jay Gaines of Austin, Texas; 8 grandchildren; twin brother, Robert Gaines of Denison, Texas and brother, Jim Gaines of Houston, Texas. Graveside services were held Thursday morning, February 23, 2012 in Akers Cemetery in Sherman, Texas. Memorials may be made in his name to Preston Fire Department, P. O. Box 518, Pottsboro, TX 75076 or to Pottsboro Fire Department, 411 Franklin Avenue, Pottsboro, Texas 75076. Arrangements are under the direction of Fisher Funeral Home in Denison. Donna Gail Gaines, 74, of Pottsboro, Texas, passed away surrounded by her family Saturday, September 5, 2015 at Texoma Medical Center, Denison, Texas. Gail was preceded in death by the love of her life and husband of 51 years, Jack Gaines, Sr.; and her parents, Fayne & Lena Belle Outhouse. She was survived by her 5 children: Karen Gaines Johnson of Grand Prairie, Texas; Jack Gaines, Jr. and wife, Linda, of Melissa, Texas; Keith Gaines and wife, Shawna, of Sherman, Texas; Greg Gaines and wife, Detra, of Gunter, Texas; Jay Gaines and wife, Stephany, of Austin, Texas. One of Grail's greatest joys was being MawMaw to her 8 grandchildren: Candice Dingle and husband, Dustin; Amanda Miller and husband, Josh; Lacy Stanley and husband, Derek; Alyson Holder and husband, Tanner; Amber Gaines; Austin Gaines; Jonathan Gaines; and Parker Gaines. MawMaw was delighted to have 2 great-grandchildren and 2 more on the way. Gail was born in Sherman, Texas on December 16, 1940 and graduated from Sherman High School. She spent the majority of her life in the Denison, Sherman and Pottsboro area and worked at Katy Hospital, Charles Holder Insurance and Judy's Flower Shop. She had an extraordinary talent for cooking, crafting, sewing, painting and decorating. Being able to feed her friends and large family was definitely a blessing and all who benefited from her amazing home cooked meals. To say Gail was an avid bird lover is an understatement. She adored her feathered friends and spent a great deal of time on her back porch admiring them through her binoculars. She also enjoyed getting together with her Sherman High School classmates once a month at Girls' Night Out and relished her livelong friendships. She also had a great love for her many dogs throughout the years, Texas Tech Football, and reading British literature. Gail will be remembered as a mom who adored her children and worried about them non-stop, a loving wife, an extraordinarily proud grandmother, and a friend to all who knew her. A graveside service was held Thursday morning, September 20, 2015 at Akers Cemetery in Sherman, Texas where she was laid to rest next to her beloved Jack. In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to SHS Ex-Students Museum Association. Services are under the direction of Scoggins Funeral Home, Van Alstyne, Texas.
