Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in Waldo Funeral Chapel for John S. Amos, 82, of 424 W. Cherry, a retired farmer, who died at 6:45 p.m. Sunday in a Sherman hospital.
Don Kesler, minister of Walnut St. Church of Christ, conducted the services.  Burial followed in Akers Chapel Cemetery.
Mr. Amos was born January 1, 1879 east of Howe, son of Mr. and Mrs. E.E. Amos.  On January 10, 1904, he married Miss Pearl Carruth.  He was a member of the Walnut St. Church of Christ for 10 years before moving to Sherman in 1938, he lived in California.  He retired from farming at that time.  He had farmed in both Grayson County and California.
His only survivors are 2 sisters, Mrs. Irene Giles and Mrs. Earl Helvey, both of Sherman; and a number of nieces and nephews.
