Sherman-Funeral services for Elias John Sansbury, Jr. will be held Monday, January 31 at 2:00 PM in the Waldo Funeral Chapel. James Dean will officiate and burial will follow at Akers Cemetery. Mr. Sansbury, 71 passed away Thursday, January 27 at Texas Health Presbyterian-WNJ Medical Center.
Johnny was born November 8, 1939 in St. Stephens, South Carolina to the late Elias and Annie (Higgins) Sansbury, Sr.
He graduated from St. Stephens schools and served in the United States Air Force from 1958 until 1961. On October 22, 1960 Johnny and Patricia Owens were married in Sherman, Texas. He worked as an electronics technician at Texas Instruments for over 35 years working initially in Dallas and later in Sherman. In retirement, he had a special hobby occupation with Hoyte Dodge. At Hoyte Dodge, he made many friends and was well respected. Also in retirement, he and Patricia enjoyed travelling extensively in the United States and abroad. They celebrated their 50th anniversary last October. Johnny will be remembered as a devoted father and husband always making his family the focus of his life.
Mr. Sansbury is survived by his wife, Patricia of Sherman; one son, Bobby of Denton; one daughter, Misty Barnes and her husband Tim of Pottsboro; grandchild, Aiden Barnes of Pottsboro; brother-in-law Wendell Owens and his wife Marsha of Houston; and a special pet named "Bear". He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Walter and Carl Sansbury.
The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 PM Sunday, January 30 at Waldo Funeral Home.
