Services to celebrate the life of Dale Donald Westurn were held Thursday afternoon, July 12, 2012 at Fairview Baptist Church with Pastor James Moore and Pastor Bill Whitehead officiating. Interment followed at Akers Cemetery, located across from TI plant in Sherman, Texas.
Dale Donald Westurn was born July 15, 1937 in Malone, New York, son of Donald and Gertrude Westurn. He graduated from Franklin Academy in Malone, New York., He joined the Navy and served from 1955 to 1959. After returning from the military, he went to LeTourneau College in Longview, Texas and graduated with an engineering degree in 1963. He married his childhood friend, Mary Cora Clark on August 26, 1961.
Dale loved spending time with his family. He especially enjoyed activities with his 2 grandsons and being a part of their lives. He was a long time devoted member of the choir. He enjoyed woodworking, reading, collecting National Geographic magazines, working on his fish pond, and taking his grandsons for ice cream. He worked at Texas Instruments for 36 years between Dallas and Sherman plants.
Mr. Westburn is survived by hiw wife, Mary, of 51 years; and son, Stephen and wife, Cathy, and his grandson, Evan and Dawson of Allen, Texas. He is also survived by his sisters, Darlene Langlois and husband, Amyot of British Columbia. Canada; and Connie Allison and husband, Tom, of Marion, Indiana; brother, Darrell Westurn and wife, Margaret of Dansville, New York, as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Kenneth Westburn.
